Foreword:
This charter was developed to clarify to users of the MASTIC fablab the conditions of use of the latter, in particular those of the machines and the use of the advice and services of the MASTIC fablab team. Any person using resources from the MASTIC fablab will be considered a user.
Any user who has not read or does not respect this charter will be refused access to the MASTIC fablab.
Scope:
The MASTIC fablab provides numerically controlled machines and equipment (computers, tools and various products). The use of the equipment is subject to strict rules in order to guarantee the safety of people and to preserve it. Before using any tools from the MASTIC fablab, the user must have followed and validated the corresponding training.
Safety of people:
The safety instructions specific to each machine and tool are indicated near them. If a user has any doubts about the use of a machine or tool, he must seek advice from a manager.
- The user is responsible for the use he makes of the machines and tools.
- The user must wear personal protective equipment adapted to the machine or tool used.
- The user must make himself known to a member of the team before using a machine or tool.
- The user cannot use the machines and tools of the MASTIC fablab without the presence of a manager.
- The user is responsible for the machine and its surroundings during its use, he must monitor the machine.
- The user must not put himself or others in danger.
- The user must report any anomalies. (malfunction, noise, odor of a machine, tool, ventilation, individual or collective protective equipment)
- The user must report if equipment is damaged. Breakage happens, but it is important to report it.
Rules for using machines and tools:
- Machines must be used only within the framework provided by the manufacturer. Information on the correct conditions of use will be given during training on the machines.
- No tools or equipment may leave the MASTIC fablab.
- After use, the equipment must be put back in its place. If the storage location is unknown, ask a manager.
- After using the machines, the user must ensure that the workspace they have used is clean and take care not to leave any waste.
- The user must not turn on a machine that has been turned off themselves.
3D printers:
- Do not remove the SD card while a print is in progress.
- Do not change the filament yourself.
- Do not launch several parts on the same print, unless agreed by a manager.
- Do not restart a print that has failed without notifying a manager.
Laser Cutter:
- Use only materials provided or approved by a manager. The list of materials provided is displayed in the Laser box
- Redo the focus adjustment and check the materials and thickness chosen before each cut.
- Wait until the air extraction is off before opening the cutter cover.
- Ask a manager to recover the parts that have fallen under the laser cutter grid.
Soldering station:
- Turn on the air extraction, position it and respect the distance above the work area.
- Never place the soldering irons anywhere other than in their supports.
- Clean the work surface after use.
Knowledge sharing:
Once the project is finished, the user writes an article on the fablab website with a photo of his creation accompanied by a brief description. As part of a research project, this information may be transmitted after the publication of the work relating to the creations made at the MASTIC fablab. A link to edit the article will be sent to you by the fablab managers.
Violations:
Users who do not respect all the rules of this Charter may be denied access to the MASTIC fablab temporarily or permanently. The MASTIC fablab managers expressly reserve the right to refuse access and/or restrict access to a user to the MASTIC fablab. This Charter may be revised at any time by the MASTIC fablab managers. Users will be informed of any changes to the latter by electronic means (email or website) and/or by posting.
